Untargeted metabolomics utilizes LC-MS technique to detect the dynamic changes of a large number of metabolites between the control and test groups, to identify differences between their metabolite profiles which may be relevant to specific biological conditions. The main research objects are endogenous small molecule metabolites with relative molecular weight less than 1000. Its main goal is to relatively study the quantification of the multiple dynamic responses of living organisms to external stimuli, pathophysiological changes, and their own gene mutations.
Project Advice
The applications of untargeted metabolomics study involve in various fields such as plant stress resistance, plant nutrition and medicinal value evaluation, animal disease treatment, microbiology and fermentation engineering and other fields. Due to individual metabolites differences, it is highly recommended that untargeted metabolomics includes at least 10 biological repeats.
